Brow and Skin Studio Ashgrove Brisbane

At our beauty salon the Brow and Skin Studio in Brisbane, we have introduced over the past 18 months, the very successful Collagen Induction into our beauty therapy services with wow-factor results!

The concept of Collagen Induction Therapy is based on wound healing, the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. Immediately after an injury to the skin our body reuses the damaged collagen and elastin fibres as well as other damaged skin components to produce new ones. Collagen Induction Therapy allows for controlled stimulation of the skin’s self repair mechanism by creating micro channels in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin. Collagen Induction Therapy is a process carried out with our device & disposable medical grade stainless steel needle tips. These needles penetrate the upper layers of the skin. This process has two major benefits. It effectively stimulates collagen formation at the same time as providing a clear channel for topical serums to be absorbed more effectively through the top layer (epidermis) of skin. Collagen Induction Therapy creates a very minor (almost microscopic) trauma which lasts for a short period of time and does not result in bruising or swelling in the treated area.

Collagen Induction therapy, Micro-Needling or Skin Needling (all the same) is intended to

  • minimise fine lines & wrinkles
  • reduce pore size
  • improve skin texture
  • reduce scarring & pigmentation
  • increase natural collagen & elastin growth

As your Skin Therapist performs this treatment across your skin, it makes pinpoint punctures into the dermis – most of which are simply temporarily opening your pores. Your body perceives this as damage, which triggers the release of growth factors that, in turn, stimulate the production of elastin and collagen. The human body is designed to react to any injury by initiating the healing process, but usually it will just mend as far as it has to keep you in good health – which is very different to healing to a cosmetic level. By persistently triggering this healing process, you encourage your skin to keep repairing until the job is completed.

We use the Mesoestetic which is a medical device used by skin professionals world wide. Their results are outstanding.

If you are after a skin treatment that truly delivers and want the wow-factor, Collagen Induction is it! For more information please call Sherril or Rhiannon. We would love to answer any questions you may have.

Omnilux Light Therapy was developed in the late 1980’s by Oncologist Dr Colin Whitehurst to Treat Non Melanoma Skin Lesions without having to cut the skin. Funded by the UK Cancer council and Patented in 1998 so this dynamic light therapy could be used worldwide and is now used in more than 60 countries. Is considered The Gold Standard in LED, the only LED DEVICE with 40+ clinical studies as confirmation of proof of results. The unfortunate fact is that not all LED Light Therapy are created equally. OMNILUX ensures that because of their clinical papers, trials and vigorous testing it has attained medical grade status. During the medical trials it was observed that light had a rejuvenating effect on both the appearance and tone of the surrounding skin. This led to the development of treatments that Skin Professionals were able to introduce to Clients. This was truly exciting as OMNILUX not only had the correct intensity and wavelength required to reach the DERMIS ( where everything begins) but was able to treat and repair damage to cells. This was only able to be done with the right LIGHT DOSE delivered to the tissue. It has to be the correct LIGHT WAVELENGTH to successfully activate our cells, without this major detail it will be ineffective and you may as well for all intents and purposes put your skin under a traffic light!!

Quite literally when you have an OMNILUX LIGHT THERAPY TREATMENT you are switching on your cells.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: Put simply when you have a treatment, an energy source called ATP which we already have in our cells  AND STARTS TO DEPLETE as we get older is introduced back into our cells. A cell with more energy is a much healthier and happy cell, however this is only the beginning of how OMNILUX can treat and benefit every skin.

Targets the cell membrane, strengthening the ‘gatekeeper’, the stronger the gatekeeper the better the cells can protect and repair damage. Increased blood flow for up to 72 hours leading to greater tissue oxygenation and detoxification, by drawing on our natural hydration sources to the skin results in plumper, clearer with less fine lines and increased hydration

Targets the nucleus, strengthening the the life force of the cell- where the energy is produced. It penetrates deep into the dermis, stimulating fibroblast activity which produces collagen keeping our skin young and healthy.

The Brow and Skin Studio was one of the first salons in Brisbane to introduce Omnilux and it is still our go to treatment– it never lets us down. We use this in conjunction with all our other treatments, peels, microdermabrasion, collagen induction, Cosmelan and Mesoeclat as it increases the effectiveness and takes the treatment and the clients skin to a new level. We have used Omnilux pre and post medical procedures as it gives 40% quicker results with healing and reducing scarring.

We have been using Omnilux since 2007, and the simple fact is the clients who have had treatments regularly have achieved a far greater outcome with their skin health.

If you only have one treatment, try Omnilux, Your skin will love you for it!!

Anyone who has ever experienced pigmentation knows how difficult it can be to treat. You think you have it under control and wham, back it comes. A little unknown piece of information that is vitally important to know, is the pigmentation you see on the surface of your skin is only part of the story. What you are seeing is only 40% of what is actually there, the other 60% is what lies beneath and unfortunately what lies ahead in the future. To understand the how and the why it occurs in some skins and not others we need to know the mechanisms that can trigger pigmentation, the steps to treat and finally the solution to prevent it recurring, but first things first.  We need to understand the pigmentation process so strap yourself in for a mini science lesson

  • Melanin is the pigment that gives skin its colour
  • Melanocytes are cells responsible for melanin production: they are found in the surface layer of our skin
  • Melanocytes produce granules called melanosomes that when filled with melanin create the pigmentation.

Are you still with me??? Once we have some knowledge about how it happens, we can understand why at times it can seem impossible to treat,  however with Cosmelan which addresses not only the pigmentation, but the underlying cause, decreasing and regulating the overproduction of melanin. There are unfortunately many band aid remedies, some products only bleach the pigmentation instead of treating it, in much the same way as using bleach to remove mould, which only addresses the surface not the cause. ( Pigmentation and mould have a lot in common, both left untreated will become uncontrollable)

There are many triggers that set pigmentation off. A multitude of factors both external and internal effect melanin production. These can include:

  • Sun exposure
  • Ageing
  • Inflammation
  • Medication
  • Genetics ( yes you can blame your parents)
  • Hormonal changes ( pregnancy, Menopause)
  • Chemicals, think perfume, when the sun hits the area it can cause pigmentation.

COSMELAN Originating in Spain, is the world’s leading professional Skin depigmentation method, and at The Brow and Skin Studio Brisbane, COSMELAN would be our go to choice for Clients who have exhausted all other avenues and are serious about tackling this condition once and for all. This treatment is a 1 off that surpasses all expectations. Simply put, It acts by inhibiting tyrosinase activation, a trigger for pigmentation,  blocking and reducing the the amount of melanin formed, reducing the intensity of dark spots, stimulating epidermal renewal and intensively combating the build up of melanin. Just to give you another analogy: have you ever seen how fleas proliferate on a dog, pigmentation is exactly the same, if left untreated and nothing is done, nothing will change and it will become uncontrollable.
